SKI LESSONS
by Carrie Wilmont
http://www.funonski.com

Never tried skiing before? Well it~s about time you did.
Once you take ski lessons you~ll never want to give it up.
There~s nothing better than hitting the slopes with the
biting cold air and mountains of fresh snow under your
feet. If you feel nervous about it don~t be; it~s so
exhilarating.

Who should teach you? First things first, never attempt a
slope with out having a few lessons first. It~s best to
take lessons with professional trainers that are resident
on the slopes as they can make the experience a happy and
danger-free one. Don~t make the error of getting one of
your skiing buddies to show you the ropes, they may be
fabulous skiers but they know you too well and it~s very
easy for scary arguments to crop up and stress levels soon
overflow.

For one thing, unless you take private lessons, which can
be a little expensive, you will be learning with other
people at the same level of learning as you. Because of
that, you find yourself in a comfortable situation, making
the learning fun. Typically, two days is enough to get
you started but you can always take more if you like.

What happens on the lessons? Pretty much the whole first
day is spent learning the basics to help you stay safe on
the mountains. The next day, it can be just a morning or
afternoon or another whole day, teaches you how to get on
and off ski lifts to actually get up the slopes. Once
you~ve accomplished that the slopes are yours as the whole
group will then ski down the slope. Its then that you just
start to realize what all the fuss was about when it comes
to snow skiing.

Do I need to get equipment to learn with? The simple
answer to that is no and you probably wouldn~t know what
to buy at this early stage anyway. It~s really easy to
rent skis, ski boots, poles and all the other stuff you
need at the resort. This gives you the chance to decide
whether this is the kind of activity you really like
before spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars. They
don~t skimp on quality when it comes to rentals either,
top notch equipment is provided.

The professionals that run the ski rental shops will be
able to line you up with exactly the type of equipment
needed. They will determine your level of skiing ability,
measure your foot size, height, and so on. This way, you
know and they know that you have exactly what you need to
enjoy the slopes to the fullest while staying completely
safe.

You should make sure that your child partakes in lessons
if you take them with you and they have never been skiing
before. They should wear a safety helmet to protect them
against accidents and you should multi-layer their
clothing to enable them to strip off or redress as the
temperature changes on the slopes. Then they have the best
possible start and can really start to learn to ski
without having any concerns.
