Schooling You on Private Schools
by Conner Schueler

Whether or not to send your child to private school is
a difficult and important decision. The right decision
depends on the specific child and what is in his or her
best interests. The most important thing for parents
to do that are faced with this decision is to take
their time and really consider the pros and cons of
sending their child to private school. The parents should
discuss the decision and make it together since it is a
decision that will impact the child for the rest of their
lives.
The first stage in the process will be determining why
you are considering private school for your child. For
example, if the reason you are considering private school
is that your child is having difficulty with other
children in the public school you may want to reevaluate
your decision. You will need to consider if pulling
your child out of the school and putting them in another
school will resolve the problem, or if it is sending
the wrong message to your son or daughter making them
think that they should run from problems rather than trying
to solve them.
If your child has special educational needs you may want
to consider if the private school has the resourced to
help your special needs child. Many private schools do
offer the resources to give your child the special
attention they need. Also, many private schools can offer
more concentration in things like math and science, the
fine arts and other type subjects. The key is knowing the
needs of your child and making sure that your child's needs
are addressed.
Funding for private schools can be difficult for many
families. However, keep in mind that just like there
are funds available for people attending colleges and
universities, there is funding available inlcuding loans
grants and scholarships for children to attentd private
school. Once you start researching schools you will want
to keep that in mind.
Finally, once you and your child have chosen the private
school that is on the top of the list, begin the
application process. This process varies from school
to school, but usually consists of an interview of your
child to see if he or she will benefit from this particular
school.
